More water = higher egts?

Regarding a competition only engine, isnt extra fuel (far more than can be burned effectively) also used to cool things down (kinda of like a timed water injection event)??

Please set me straight if I am way off guys, thanks!

...not you 300D...your ignored.

Its like when some know it all says a diesel shouldnt smoke AT ALL, then says any diesel that smokes at all is gutless and leaves tons of power on the table. Now that may be true from a street truck with huge injectors and a stock turbo, but not an all out competition engine. Then I ask then why top level sled pullers smoke like freight trains, yet they yank that sled around like a toy...dont get a answer.

a Diesel engine stops getting additional power from additional fuel before it starts getting visible smoke from additional fuel.
Are you done making an ASSumption out of yourself?
Nobody said that clean exhaust isn't the maximum amount of power that can be made. In fact, diesels make their most power with a slightly rich mixture that produces a grey haze. Crapping thick black smoke shows either the tuner is poorly educated or thinks its cool, in either case that tuner shouldn't be touching engines.

I think you mean fuel that could help burn the pistons
Wrong. Injecting too much fuel drastically increases EGTS, THAT will melt pistons.
Burning all the fuel efficiently will result in cool combustion thats no threat to your pistons. No, what you mean is "I think you mean fuel that could help bend rods."

Corrected to align with reality.

Not really. In g@ssers a rich mixture cools combustion, in diesels black soot is partially combusted fuel. You just said it, water injection can be used much more effectively at cooling an engine. If they can afford to build a $15k+ competition engine, surely they can afford an electric pump and a few brass nozzles?

Thank goodness SG is out of the picture, now we adults can engage in constructive thinking without the child interjecting.

They want MAXIMUM POWER at all costs. They aren't afraid to run 1800-2100*EGTs because they can afford to build their engines to withstand it, and they can afford to rebuild it frequently.

We go down the track at between 1400 and 1500.

Is 300D (D stands for dumb ass) schooling CompD on EVERYTHING again??:hehe:LOL.

Gotta love that ignore feature :).

I swear he is related to Wade and or Greg...

In fact, diesels have spark plugs and make their most power with a slightly rich mixture that produces a grey haze. Crapping in the carburetor of my Yugo makes thick black smoke that I thinks is cool, I shouldn't be touching engines.

Ahh, so "grey haze" is not the same thing as "smoke" in your world. A LOT of people on this site will agree with the grey haze being optimum, on the trucks with efficient enough injection systems that can achieve it. Most would also refer to grey haze as "smoke". I like how you selectively quote me, I returned the favor.

However, I'd also ASSume that quite a few here are also a bit curious about how an "efficient" burn results in less heat on the piston when "efficiency" is the literal percentage of energy in the fuel that makes it into the piston... And considering that unburned fuel can't add energy to the piston because it's, you know, unburned.

You're a phucking moron. Have you even built or been around a puller? CompD has another tough keyboard racer, this guy baffles me every time he posts.

I cut the delivery valves today, but I'm not sure what to think. It idles a lot rougher and faster and now the tach (which senses impulses in the injector line) doesn't seem to work right. It doesn't seem to smoke much more. Running around with no load It did make a couple pounds more boost than before. EGTs seemed about the same. I'm wondering if it might help to increase the pop pressure of the injectors?

jesus f'ing christ...when are you going to stop pretending you know anythign about diesel combustion :bang

People aren't "crapping thick black smoke" because it gives them more power. They do it because it creates exponentially more heat than a clean combustion...heat that then lights their (generally excessively large) turbo

Wow, all you people need to grow up and stop making yourselves look like morons. I hope the intelligent members here don't act like you monkeys.

After reading more posts on this forum I have to say that this forum is filled to the brim with the most retarded people I have ever seen. I'm going to leave this place before this ****ty forum's reputation pollutes my eyes even further.
