Timing versus HP comparison.

This pump was flowed with the 024's and the SDX dv's at the same rack travel I was running. 024's flowed 680cc at 17mm, SDX's flowed 750cc at 17mm of rack. That's a pretty substantial difference in flow considering it was only a 4hp gain at 26 deg's. Makes me wonder if the injectors are not able to flow more and are the restriction, or perhaps the .084 lines, or maybe the GT55 primary is at it's limits(it is being pushed pretty hard). More things to figure out later.

That's very interesting, I saw the 4hp but didn't actually think about how small it was.

It'd be cool if someone had some .093 lines and bigger injectors for you to try so you could narrow it down.

Any chance your secondary is restricting your gt55?

I honestly don't know why I didn't see more of a gain. There's probably a good reason for it, but I'm in so far over my head it's kind of pathetic. If i get it figured out I'll pass the info along.

Got the nozzles yesterday. Thank you Weston. I'll get them put together and get you some feedback as soon as i can.

I'd also like to thank Chris Werner at Jefferson State Diesel for his patience and help with this.

Any boost difference between the 024's and the SDX DV's? I picked up 20 psi from 181's to the SDX valves, but thats on a small set of twins with a stock 215 pump.

I only went up 5psi going from my old pump at 850hp to the new one at 1050hp. I didn't see any rise with the other dv's.

In reference to the driveability thread, I drove it home(120 miles) after pulling off the dyno. It doesn't like to idle in drive every time you pull up to a stop. I usually kick it into neutral. Other than that it's just a normal truck. I have seen many 1st gen VE pumped trucks at 300hp that smoke alot more around town. Not hard to make it smoke, but not hard to keep it from smoking. It does haze more than it did a couple hundred hp ago, but still not enough to be a problem.

My previous post:

I keep looking at these graphs and i still don't understand why the power fell off earlier with higher timing and the 2 extra clicks of the governor springs.

The problem was that the pump was starting to de-fuel at 3000rpm. It's fixed now. I wish I had known earlier. It ran 11.1 at 126 with it de-fueling at 3k. I may have gotten my 10 second goal had I gotten it fixed before. Of course it may have just burned up my clutches on the run like it did with the new pump.:hehe:

I love this thread! I honestly think I have learned more about my 13mm pump and about timing my pump than I have in all other threads that I have read combined. Please keep up the good work! I cant thank you enough! I must have more!:woohoo::bow:

2 more degree's of timing, slid the plate to the front, un-hooked the tv cable and zip tied it forward. Made 1218hp on fuel. Timing is definitely part of the equation.

Which injectors now? What's the timing at now 28 or 30*?

Wow congratulations.

Seems like it took a hundred tries to get to the magic four digits, and now the extra power just rolls in with seemingly minor changes.

congrats again ron! Good to see you put up a very impressive number and on a superflow to boot. Pretty sure you got the best fuel only number for the day, and actually probably would have been the best overall number if you took dimitri out of the list. Keep it up!

I forgot about the correction factor(STP=1.016) so my actual number was 1199. Still happy though.

Can you please list your full setup or direct me to somewhere to have it listed if you don't mind sharing?

maybe this is a stupid question but how does the truck start at 26* of timing I set my 215 pump at 26* was 20*with ddp stage2 injecters no heater grid and it does not like to start below 50* outside temp is that normal or do u guys think something is wrong?
