I have 2 of the dewalts and love them 1/2 and 3/4. there isnt a thing I've found that I can't do with either one. I don't have any experience with the Milwaukee's.

The first one has a magnesium case and 8 ft cord. The other one its steel and a 10 ft cord. That's the only difference I seen.

If one has a rocker style trigger and one doesn't, i'd get the one without, those things are annoying.

I have the heavy duty dewalt and the torque is higher with it than most electrics and can break stuff loose really well. If you notice in the specs it makes 45 ft. lbs more than the Milwaukee

I didn't notice the case difference. Go with steel? I don't know how I missed that part. I did notice the cord difference though LOL

I've never had one with the rocker style before. Thanks for the heads up!

I noticed that. But does it truly put out that much more tq? I've seen lots of brands rated to even 500ft/lbs, and after reading reviews, people say it barely breaks lug nuts loose LOL

Thanks for the help so far! I think I'll go for the steel cased one or the dewalt.

I have a mag one. Love it picked it up used for 40 bucks. Smaller jobs it's awesome I use it a lot on lug nuts and stuff like that when I don't wanna fire up the air compressor.

For the 190 your looking at I just bought a snapon mg725 1/2 air impact rated at 810.

I'd love an air setup, but I can't justify the $600+ on just the compressor, and then hundreds more for the impact tools and filter/dryer parts. I've found some compressors that are sub $600, but the tanks are too small, pumps are too small, or they've got terrible reviews on quality and durability.

Have you looked into battery powered impacts?

Besides being quite a bit more expensive...I really like the Snap On 3/8" drive, 14.4V battery powered impact. Don't let the size worry ya, it has tons of torque, plus its portable. :Cheer:

Yeah, cordless ones tend to run more $$$, plus you gotta get batteries and a charger, and it seems like no one can really tell how long the batteries will last. And if you're on a big project, and the batteries die, then you gotta wait for recharge. I've always been a huge fan of corded drills too.

And for the record, anything with snap-on on it will never be seen in my garage LOL My salary doesn't support it.

Get one with 2 batteries. Most kits are sold with 2 batteries and a charger.

Milwaukee makes a great cordless impact too. I would get corded also for what your wanting. $600 sounds steep for the compressor and hookups. Some larger units are only 300 and will power a lot of things easily.

I am not a snap on fan either, but there 3/8" impacts are amazing!

Where can I find them? I've checked ebay, sears, harbor, northern, and grainger, with no luck. $300 units have reviews that say they leak or burn up almost out of the box, or the pumps are too weak and require 20 min fill times. If i were to get a compressor, Im looking for 20gal or larger FYI.

Saw them at http://www.tptools.com/

They have in house deals and some killer sale prices. There was a Quincy normal 799 for 299 cause it sat there for a year. They build blast cabinets and make a hvlp paint system. Skat Blast is them. Awesome company located in canfield Ohio.

Dewalt or Makita impacts are the standard...don't waste your time with anything else...corded or not.

Snap On....puke.

i have and use on a daily basis dewalt 12v and 20v lithium ion 3/8" drive guns. compact and work great for almost everything.

i have a milwakee m12 3/8 li-on ratchet also use on a daily basis. also compact and good power.

plus i just ordered a snap-on 1/2 with li-on battery gun for doing mains and larger work.
