Been reading alot of theses 6.5 posts looking for a little help with building power. but is there any one making a bigger injection pump or am i just stuck with stock. if so do they build the older or newer pumps, would it be better to run mechanical? were do i find the lower compression pistons?.

my truck curentaly has 80 hp towing computer,40hp marine injectors, head studs, revised down pipe with a modified cummins hx35 18 psi max and modified cummins intercooler and water methonal injection. 4in exhaust, raptor pump. 4l80e swaping for nv4500 truck has 4:10s. also have 2 spare engines. next upgrades are girdle, scat crank and studing the bottem end.

i know these engines are light duty engines. this is just a play toy i have a 2005 cummins for my tow rig. so dont wanna hear drop a cummins in it please.$.02

thinking of going to build custom headers with twins if this is possible i know the heath diesel truck has them wondering if any one has any info on this.
i know im pushing the limitations of this engine wanting to see what else i can do with it.

I dont have alot to add constructively,,, but I just thought it was kinda humorus having chevy 6.5 and performance in the same sentance.... LOL

On a more serious note. Have you moved the computer away from the heat a bit, I have a friend that had tried doing a bunch of mods to his 6.5 and that was one of the first things he did.. I am sure that you can get a reputable injection pump service to warm up that pump somewhat too..

If you want a stout bottom end i would say your best bet is a p400 6.5. They have a much stronger block and a forged crank.

put 350 chevy motor in lol jk.

serious note though im really surprised u aint already at the end with the power level the old girl i had didnt make it much pass injectiors before the bottom end fell out and i just swampped it with a gasser

I heard stories of a stock bottom end 6.2 with a holset hxxxx charger that would annihilate a stock duramax...then it spun a bearing. LOL

Look up "newbie with unique project" a guy is ppumping his idi. The hard part will be finding a gear case for the pump.

Bigger pumps are available for a 6.5. The DB2 is out there and available to supply enough fuel to push a 6.5 to 400HP. The stock DS4 pump is capable or roughly 89-92 MM3 of fuel at 3,000 RPM's(enough to put you close to 275-290HP) with the right tuning(the SS 80HP ECM will not get you ko where near the 80HP he claims it will). The DB2 can be found on 92-93 6.5's with a turbo and they can supply about 100MM3 of fuel I believe. Also there are parts out there to push a DS4 pump up to around a true 120-130 MM3 of fuel, but the programming for it would have to be custom which would involve writiong your own tune and most likely your own definition file to do so. Theer are people out there playing around with center mount turbos with good results. The big hurdle will be your stock GM block. It will not be happy making big HP. If you want to push one, get an optimizer or a P400.

Your reading comprehension must be pertty low. Im sure the OP is well aware of this. You have contributed nothing but two worthless assbag posts to this thread. If you cant help the guy with useful info STFU or GFL! He is not spending your money.

Just $15,000 in parts and they will still never hold a candle in reliability to a Cummins or even a Powerstroke.

You have experience with a 6.5 over 300hp? Do you own a gm 6.x? Have you modified them? If you answered "no" to any of the above questions, you do NOT belong here.
