i have an 01 f250 7.3. I opened my hood the other day and noticed that my coolant reservoir was empty pulled dipstick no water in the oil. So i put water in to refill it (not having and coolant) well i that morning i headed to work and on the way there i noticed that my truck was over heating so when i got to work i opened my hood and saw that it was empty again, refilled it and went into work 8 hours later leaving work i checked it agian and it was half way empty pulled my dipstick and my oil was fine looked under the truck and there was no coolant or puddle under the truck. so i refilled it and went home (only a 15 min ride) got home and it was empty checked my oil it was fine. let it sit for a few days went and checked it and there is water in my oil. how could it be getting there? NEED HELP PLEASE REPLY! :ford:

If you have a coolant pressure tester
Drain the oil back out of the engine fill the coolant up and pressurize the system 15psi is plenty see if the water leaks out the oil pan. If not pull all injectors and see if one cylinder fills up with coolant.

Oil pressure is usually greater that water pressure. Normally you would see oil in the coolant tank. However the old 6.9 and 7.3 IDI were know for oil cooler failing when you had water in the oil.

Im gonna try and presssure test it and try what you said to do with the oil, thanks man its greatly appreciatted

Candidates cylinder wall. I've seen 3 of them. Not that that's a great # but the exact symptoms

my 99 did this, cracked block just above the oil cooler
seams to be a common thing for the 99's but not heard of any of the later years doing it
