I think that's a steal. Check maint records.

Mine is an 05 model A5 body, BRM engine code. The last A4 has a BEW engine, which is nearly the same structure as the BRM.
That car should have the BEW.

Zach sells cams for them I think. He might know failure rates on them

Alh is simple and easiest I'd say to work on. Idparts.com, ecstuning, kerma, dieselgeek, boraparts. All goos places. 99.5 cars are chip swapping computers and 2000 up is plug and play when it comes to tunes

I got almost everything from Kerma. Great customer service, and their tuning service is pretty awesome. I have the IDParts lower intercooler pipe too and had no issues with them either.

09-10 Autos are to avoid also. 11-current autos are better. Are we paying cash or financing? If financing, look hard at a Cruze diesel or a COMPARABLE Jetta. Jetta might be less expensive at a glance but it doesn't have a lot of features standard as the Cruze like leather and 17" wheels.

I would get a Golf TDi. While shorter, you can fit bigger stuff.

All I can say is they are great cars, but if you go new I would look real hard at the Cruze just for parts availability. Going used beware rust issues mainly behind the front wheels and make sure the timing belt has been done.

Your version of great and mine differ.

I pulled 51mpg running across I74 and I80.

The pictures of the common rail fuel pump showed design flaws that were being blamed on fuel contamination. I became angry and stopped participating in the thread on tdi club. thats been some time ago. Are the new fuel systems more robust?

I'll just be paying cash, I just want something more fuel efficient than a duramax. Lol

From my jetta experiences they seem to have electrical gremlins. I'd double check every electronic gadget in the car.

On edit: I should add some jettas seem to have issues.

I had to replace the flasher relay in mine, and the driver door gets funky about knowing if it is closed or not at times. About it for electrical issues with mine and the door switch is a fairly common issue on the higher mileage cars.

I'm on my second Jetta and haven't seen any of the issues you guys have with the electrical. Guess I must be lucky.

I don't know much about the TDI's other than what I've been reading on the 12-14 passats with DEF. They seem very solid and I'm leaning towards one for my next DD.
