Narrowing a Rockwell

What's the cost of throwing one of these axles together. Like the hard parts cost.

So far I'm into mine for like 1700 bucks including the rims I just posted. Do some shopping and your homework, make some friends and it'll go a long ways!

That's what I figured. Thanks a lot man. Are gears pretty available for these axles?

Seems like you're better off finding a complete dropout with the gears you want, Vander Haags has them for about 350 bucks, theres other junkyards that are even cheaper.

I used the 8x180 to 8x6.5 adapters. ($65 off eBay) The holes have to be opened up to fit the 5/8 bolts anyways and allows it to all line up and fit snug. Then turn the inside of the adapter to fit flush on the axle.

On two piece real wheels 10 of the 20 bolt holes line up perfect with the big 10lug pattern... if that makes sense. I'll try to get pics and I'm just gonna open up those 10 holes and bolt the wheels how you did yours. I like it, simple and effective.

Im useing a 8" BS wheel on the inside and my old fronts (4" bs) on the outside. With the 1.5 thick adapter and mounting inside wheel on backside of hub, it just puts the tires together.

Awesome!! thats good news about the adaptors

Some more stuff, modded some stock aluminum hubs to fit on a set of real wheels with the centers cut out to pilot on the back of the hubs. Real happy how this is all coming out.

Very nice! Would you mind showing a picture of the other side of the wheel?

all I got on my phone is thos one of the front before doing anything to the rim. I actually got the rims from Rawdog, he opened up the center on one and I just did the other to match. Machined the hubs to contour to the rim, then machined them to pilot onto the back, then just drilled with a hand drill.

Yep, heard that also, but also heard of guys not having any issues. Sounds like you need to run a support to the top of the housing.

this is correct, 2 1''od tubes from the top of the housing to the axle tubes per side, one forward and one rearward, should take care of the issue.

This showed up yesterday! Still waiting for my Aluminum hubs from Keck's yet.

How much does a bare sheet metal housing weigh with the supports welded on?

I am curious to see a pic from the front of it, does it have support for the back of the carrier caps like a stock housing?
