Id like to see how y'all have your external wastegates setup if anyone has pictures. Also what is the most common/best sized external gate to get? Im guessing the bigger the better, but it seems like a 38mm tial is pretty common. Thanks for any pics or info

Eric

38mm should suit most just fine. I don't have any pics of mine but just imagine it welded in the exhaust manifold with a pipe coming off the back that attached to a bung that was welded on the down pipe.

Yeah, I pretty much know what they look like, I just thought some pictures might be nice. Can you weld one into the stock exhaust manifold with no problem?

That's how mine was setup. Just make sure that the flange you weld in there is welded flush with the roof of the manifold and not sticking down into the exhaust path. Mine was set up that way and after years of heat and pressure it broke off part of it and lodged it into my exhaust housing causing that howling I spoke of a long time ago.

Here is a setup that I ran that Joe Farmer made first. The spacer is also a T3 to T4 adapter.

Red Stroke, where is your inktake manifold :poke:

:evil

Didnt you see it......its the new card board one......its the latest thing when you run as much nitrous as Adam runs. Or it could be that I havent built it yet. Too many projects....sooooo little time. That is a junk head thats cracked to death so I cut it up and we are using it for mock-up. Adams motor is still in the truck if you look up higher in the thread you can see it, look for the smurf paint, the motor on the stand is Jerrod Glovers.

Looks awesome but why is the wastegate bypassing the primary turbine on your setup Redstroke?

He can add to this but I am pretty sure he was thinking with the kind of nitrous he runs (his 1111hp run was 2 lines@0.125 and 1@0.080) he wanted to take the extra load off the 480 and bypass it. His new set up has more fuel, the twins and I dont know how many stages of nitrous. I know he has more nitrous bottles than a powerstroke has pistons.

See the first Pic, in the background *nx* that just a few....

I am pretty sure the 480 is not going to be liking me even with the 50mm gate:evil

You Ford guys have to go through hell to keep your blue ovals competitive. :hehe:

Judging by the time slip Dockboy has attached to his sig, you are the one who needs to do some work to be competitive :kick: I think that was even with a Powerstroke? :poke:
