hitch hieght? 30"?
MAKE WIEGHT!!!! place behind rear axle

wide single 305 or 315s
duals rear

didnt have any weight transfer to the rear tires in the video

i just stuck a hitch in and went... so i need to have the hitch about 30 inches off the ground?...place the weight under the bed or in the bed?....weight transfer?... to the rear wheels.... what do you mean that?my tire size are 185.75/16.... so i need bigger tires.. or wider.. or both... and how much grip would i need.....i dont want to break ****...

You need bigger and wider tires, as for grip it just depends on the track. Your going to need atleast a good AT tire.

yea.. i am looking for some better a/t .. thats what i have on now. but the a lil worn.. from draging at the strip... but no real aggresive mud tire

Curtis - you are one up on me now. Watching you got me thinking about trying it out as well. I do think some more hitch height would definitely help you out (along with some aggressive M/T - find a set of steel rims to keep them mounted on). By this time next year there will be some more organized 2wd classes with some rules that will help us out in knowing what to build towards (as far as weight, hitch height, mods, etc)

national orgs and alot of hte local circuts followed as well allow runnng 30" hitch height for 2wd trucks..

most classes are 8000lbs meaning that is the max you can weigh.

good 285/75/16 or 305/70/16 AT tire would be good start as well
iirc common uesed ATs are
BGF AT
toyo
master crafts,
coopers
procomps
i know MT ATZ have been populare with seveal people as well.

im hoping i might be able to make my first hook in july :woohoo:

yes john .. it was even easer on my truck to pull.. temps didnt get high.. defueling didnt come on.... alarms wasnt beep... beep..beep ...beeping all the time.... i think you will have a ball.... i dont think it is as intence as setting at the tree.. waiting on the grren... but it was fun....they been real helpfull on here... just trying to learn.... and thanks to all that has responded and help so far...

Defenitely need some sort of traction bars, and suspention stops. Then Add weight in the bed over the rear axel. Getting your suspention set up properly will insure that you get the most weight transfer. Check out a few of the other threads below. They have alot of great information that is really helpful.
Great pull by the way....:Cheer:

You are Adam - right? My name is John. If you have any rules info that you can share I would sure appreciate it. I know Curtis has a long list of mods waiting so we might be better able to get things tweaked for him (and me as well). Are the turbo size requirements the same as the 4wd trucks (2.6, 2.8, 3.0 etc)? I am about ready to order a larger turbo but I may hold off on that depending on what class that would put me into. My truck weighs around 6200lbs right now so I would need some serious weight to make 8000lbs.

Good luck on your pull coming up! Let us know how it goes.

You are Adam - right? yep my name is in my sig ;) My name is John. nice to meat you :Cheer:If you have any rules info that you can share I would sure appreciate it. Are the turbo size requirements the same as the 4wd trucks (2.6, 2.8, 3.0 etc)? yes all classes are single turbos unless stated other wise no pan n2o is allowed water and w/m is iffy pending org and class regs I am about ready to order a larger turbo but I may hold off on that depending on what class that would put me into. My truck weighs around 6200lbs right now so I would need some serious weight to make 8000lbs.yes sir. weight of truck is WITH DRIVER... suite case/tractor weight are the most common lead works the best sand bags work as well.

Good luck on your pull coming up! Let us know how it goes.

NADM set the rules
all safety related items aply to both 4x4 and 2wd. IE drive shaft loops/u-joint shields suspenion travel limits. engine/trans/turbo rules are the same. with only one exception 2wd get a 30" hitch vs the 26" 4wd get.

I would definitely focus on your truck setup before going all out on power combos. Hitch height, spring clamps, traction bars, atleast a set of new A/T's in the back, limit your tire diameter until you have some more power, rear locker, adjustable bump stops. that should cover you the majority of additions, that leaves the all important........ tire pressure.

How much HP do you have? Trans? Clutch?

He is around 500hp with a nv5600 and a dual disk SB. Curtis you have about 600-1500lbs to play with depending on class. And that scale was a bit off. I have some worn 305/70/17s you can pretty much have. I have 4 so a pair for you and John? Just come on over or pick them up at blackout.

And

yea.. chris i got to build a hitch to... when i pulled up there.. ed gave me a 2 inch hitch... well after reading in here some.... i learned i should have ran at 30 inches... well i measured the 2 inch hitch i had.. turned it over. and measerd.. 22 inches is all i had... so .. yea.. i am getting a hitch/makeing one... and to make sure. is that 30 inches from the ground.. well thats how i measured the one ed gaVE me......ohhh and i have 16 inch rims...

oofff 22" explains alot.

hitch hieght is measure at the hight hitch point at were the hook rest when hooked to the truck while on flat ground

need 2" solid square stock for get the tube.(forget 2" tube steel) the flat plate shuld be min 1/2" thick 5/8-1" would be better. with 1/2" gustest.. check out the sled pulling hitches thread in the parrent forum for ideas.

Lynn and Adam I can't beleave you guy's forgot about telling him to keep the hitch as close to the bed as possible.after you get the sus, stops and the ladder bars and get your hitch and weight set and you start to pull the front tires then you will find out how much HP you have right Lynn.Good luck clad to see more 2wd truck out haveing fun

:bang

BUT BUT dale haveing hte hitch farther way makes it easier to lift the front... thats half the show right hanging 2:rockwoot: :hehe:

all kiding aside keeps the hitch point as close to the body as possible. good hook will pull the front..

also get a "nose down" stance/rake this will alow you to shove the rear into the ground farther before you unload the truck when the front starts takeing the wieght back. also increase leverage on the rear axle as well.

example. whatching the 4wd dmaxs pull.. front is all the way down.. once hooked the front come up to right about normal ride hieght or level rake.
