:nail:I put all new OE Bosch injectors in. Truck starts and idles fine. But when accelerating blows black smoke. It never blew smoke before it only started after the new injectors were installed. I checked the tube from the intercooler to the intake heater grid and I dont see and holes. I cant figure it out. Thanks!

Does it have good power? Not sure if your black smoke is in park or....? What was the part # of the injectors installed?

Part numbers and smoke

Part number is 0986435503, if you rev it in park it will smoke and when driving it smokes when you accelerate. It feels like there is a small lack of power.

Well, you would have had the intake pipe off. Do you have a boost gauge? I'd think you'd get a code and defuel condition if it leaked boost enough to smoke black. You have the right part number.
Did you make sure all of the copper heat washers came out with the old injectors ?

No gauge

I do not have a boost gauge, I guess I'll have to invest in one. Yes I did have the intake off. I replaced the gasket and made sure everything was tight. I double checked all the old injectors and the washer is on them all.

Did you remember to collect all the shop rags that may have been used so nothing got into the charge air pipe or intake?

That does happen. Usually a rag will migrate towards a single cylinder and create a miss.
But it's worth pulling it and looking. Backtracking is all you can do really. All you did was the injectors?
Is the air filter new?

I'm back, checking the injectors in the truck. What do the numbers on top of the injectors mean? 5 are exactly the same 1 is different. Could this be my problem?? Did they send me 1 wrong injector?

The numbers on the top? You mean on the solenoids? If you did have one incorrect injector it might act like that.
The nozzles on your 03 injectors (0986435503) should have 8 holes. Maybe pull that odd one out and look.
The 04.5 -07 5.9 injectors had 5 holes in the nozzle.

Part #s has NO have merit in many Cases, and are imposers. The Pictures Below is 6.7 Virgin in Bosch Box, sealed in Bosch wrapper and Bosch Part# the give away is CRIN2 6.7 Injectors are CRIN3. They are imposers and are Junk. Today its more critical then ever is the seller, They are literally 1000s of Junk imposers everywhere today. 518 is Genuine Bosch OE Reman.

Jlmenz, Start Truck> unplug FCA (be careful) the engine should increase combustion knock it may startle YOU, No Worries its just combustion knock, Go check tail pipe for fuel smell, than plug FCA back in and count how many seconds to it returns to Idle, The Truck May Die at some point, Report back the results.

Ok, I took put the injector I was concerned about and replaced it with one of my old injectors and it is running much better now. A small amount of black smoke on acceleration now that seems to be getting better with each drive. Is it possible the injector was faulty?? Also you are right, pretty sure these are bosch imposters.

When I was at UTR we had a fellow come in with a 7.3 that was black smoking and no power, turbo wouldn’t build boost. Tech pulled the intake duct off the turbo and there was a red shop rag hard packed into the turbine blades. Fellow said he’d changed his air filter and wiped the air box out with the shop rag...
