Preface - Ok, I'm not an idiot. I don't fall for BS rumors. I feel like an idiot even bringing this up. The fact I've never heard this before tells me it's BS, because this is the type of thing we would ALL hear. :damnit

Now, a friend of my wife was telling me her husband, an oil worker here in Tx, said that Ford had available Cummins motors to put in the '08 Fords. According to him, this was something you would have to specifically order from the factory, as it's not something they're shipping to the dealerships and not advertising.

This sounds ridiculous to me and I'm sure that we would know about this but nonetheless, I just wanted to start a discussion about this.

I'm aware of the 650's and up trucks, but he's stating that the 250s / 350s. I know he's crazy, just wanted to throw that little bit of BS out there to see what stuck. People who have no clue have been "claiming" that for the last 5 years.

Seen 24v's in the E350 vans since the late 90's. Special order yes....this rumor is just like the one were FORD owns 51% of Cummins :blahblah1: Ford doesn't own enough of Cummins to do anything or say anything. I'm with Burner though if it were true....there would be one in my driveway. Best motor and the strongest frame...equal "Bad Truck!"

My opinion, if it were true, they'd be on the lot, on the TV in advertising and it would've become common knowledge as Ford could gain exponentially with a motor like that after the 6.0 years.

As I said earlier, if that rumor was true, we WOULD know about it.

I work for Ford.

If this was possible, I would already own one.

I have access to Concepts (Where Ford Dealers order new vehicles.) I will check there tomorrow, but since I have already ordered nearly every 08 on our lot, I know it isn't true.

If you have access to concepts i will order the Bronco concept tomorrow :thankyou2:

Heh, I'm sorry. That doesn't read right unless you know the Ford system.

CONCEPS (correct spelling, I was tired last night) is the Ford system where you order vehicles, track vehicles, check availability, etc. etc. etc.

And there is nothing in there about a "cummins option."

ummm 650s

They USE to offer the PSD but they are not even putting the 6.4 in the
650s. Shows how much they prefer the Cummins and Caterpillar over the PSD :hehe:

I was at a dealership about a month or so ago when I blew my 7.3L up again and I was told that you could order a Cummins, a CAT, or a 6.4L in the F-450's but nothing else. The 250's and 350's still only had the option of the 6.4.

Engine (continued)
• Both the Cummins and Caterpillar engines can
be ordered with an optional unique exhaust
brake, Code 57B, that is integral with the turbocharger.
• Aftermarket exhaust brakes are prohibited due
to Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regenerative
cycle strategy.
