Getting ready to pull the trigger on one of your 188-220 cams and have just a few questions... If I line up the timing marks on the cam and crank during disassembly, press the gear off my stock cam, press the gear on the new cam lining up the key, and then line up the timing marks during reassembly, is that all that needs done? Making sure there isn't any additional "degreeing" that needs done. Seems simple enough but want to make sure I have enough time allotted etc. Thanks in advance for answering my dumb question!!

As long as the head has never been off/touched..it should be just fine.

Both of mine..181/210 and new 188/220 were installed just as you described, as my head has never been touched.

some heads require milling to be true again ,in that case you are bringing the the valve closer to piston kapish.

Does a cam make a big difference in the performance above 3500? I can run 4100 rpms, but it just feels flat above 3500rpms...

I took off a total of .006 (head and block). I was told I'd be good to go with the 188/220
