Hey guys,
Im almost done with this project, but i figured i would post it up for you. I am converting a 1979 F350 4x4 for a customer with a 12v p-pump, 47rh, and 241dld. The owner of this truck ordered it from Ford and wants to keep it on the road so he had me do a conversion for him. I used DCS motor mounts and built everything else myself. It is headed off to the exhaust shop on Friday and hopefully will go for its first test drive this Saturday. Heres a few pics:

Heres a pic of the ford and the dodge he brought to me:

One of the intercooler hoses. I have found that getting a set of 7.3 powerstroke IC hose works great for getting all the different bends you need to make IC hoses for most conversions.

I will add more pics soon, once its running.

You spray painted the motor blue and the valve covers, intake horn, and turbo Tijuana chrome???

TheSilverBullet,
Thank you for such a useful comment. To each their own my friend. Customer wanted ford blue with silver accents so that's what I did.

This guy is doing a nice conversion in a old truck, and the only comments are about the paint job on the motor? I'm sure you have a lot of hours in on this project, keep up the nice work. I have a soft spot for the 70's Ford trucks.

Project got finished and delivered to the customer week before last. Ran like a champ and was super fun to drive

Would love to have that truck! Don't worry I used spray paint on my engines.

Truck looks great! I'd love to see some more pictures.

I've spray painted nearly every engine I've owned. Maybe not as preferrable as powdercoating, but with 4 kids, a house needing remodeling, scraping by from month to month, etc, it works for me!

Sweet!! Quick question, the one picture where you were setting the drive angle, is there a standard angle or one that is perfered? Thanks in advance! And GREAT JOB!

Thanks for the mind words guys. Yes, engine spray paint is what I typically use to paint motors after a thorough clean and degrease. If I was building someone a true show truck there would be a lot more powder coating and professional paint work. But for a converted work truck most people aren't willing to pay for that.

2micron,
Typically the angle you want is between 5-7* tilt back. You need to take into consideration the stance of the truck as well. Stock trucks usually sit nose down so the first thing you need to do is figure out the angle the truck sits at and then compensate for that when you are measuring the engine angle if that makes sense. So if the truck sits 3* forward then your engine angle would be between 2-4* back. Another good rule of thumb is that the bottom of the oil pan should be sitting level when it is final mounted.
