I have a prob. with my front end bouncing while pulling. It has around a six inch lift I believe(it was on it when I bought the truck). I know I have seen some 1st Gen trucks with lifts that pull and was wondering if yall have the same problems and what was the cure. My next idea is to get rid of the lift and go stock height which I don't care to do! I love the way it looks!

I tried to clamp the front springs on the front and rear of both sides and have 30lbs in the front tires http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sojgGucUCWw

Here is another video with no spring clamps and 25lbs in front tires. This video it bounces at the end when it is pulling hard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cbTh_aT3pQ

Get rid of the lift, sell it. Go back to stock leafs, run 2 or maybe 3 leafs in the stock spring pack. You want what I think they call, a negative arch. That should help get rid of the bounce.

With the way my truck is setup currently I have no bounce issues

I would try to get the front down a little. at static hieght with no weight I have a 2" rake with a full rack its around 3-3.5 of rake

How much are you hangin? Looks like your only hangin 800-1000( I'm hangin 1500-2000)

How much Rear suspension travel?

Is it a bounce or an axle wrap issue thats causing the bounce?

What is your hitch hieght and how far is it set back

Pulltillbroke you truck is setup good. I didn't start bouncing until I got over 400hp.

Yeah about 700lbs in this video cause it is for the 7,500lb class, 8,500 lb class i hang about 1,500lbs. In the 8,500lb class I don't have a bouncing problem till I get till the end when it starts biting hard.

It does have a little rake to it with weights. maybe two inches but the weight of the sled when pulling brings it back up to stock height. Here is a video you can tell the rake with about 500lbs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6hCBDak9Hs
I like to run lighter than the class with our sled cause it is a speed sled and the fastest one down the track usually wins.
No rear suspension travel I have adjustable blocks.
The hitch height is set at 26in and I have moved the reciever hitch back to the axle three inches from stock location.

I believe it is the softer front spring packs from the lift causing the front to bounce.
Would a heavier adjustable shock like the rancho 9000 help stiffen the front up cause it still has the skyjacker shocks.

You might want to move your hitch a little more towards the front of the truck(mine is about a foot forward of the stock location) lose the bumper.

I got my hitch setup so the center of the hole is center between the tailgate and back of the box when looking through the gap between them, its never good to have your hook point behind the rear bumper(a lot of unwanted leverage pulling the frontend up)

Will your rules allow front traction bars? If they do take take a look at some mod gas trucks for Ideas

How many leaves are in your pack. I'm running a 6 leaf 4" Rancho gasser spring pack

I cut the plate off the bumper where you put a ball so the hitch is flush against the liscense plate right now. Losing the bumper is a good idea for next project. Would be nice to build pulling drawbar hitch but not in the rules.

I wouldn't think front trac bars is either. I would like to pull NADM events if i ever get it where I want it.
Mine looks like it is a five spring pack.

Yeah, I would try to drop the front about an inch and stick an extra leaf in the pack

BTW, what kind of caster angle are you running, you got the pinion tipped up a lot

can you post some pics of your hitch. im building a first gen and id like to see some others ideas for a hitch

very nice thank you. i like the way you did that. my framerails are rusted pretty bad in the back. the truck came from jersey i dont know what they did with it cause just the back part of the frame is rusted. i guess spread salt. so im thinkin i might cut the back section off and start from scratch. i ve heard people say the first gen frames arent very strong to begin with.
