Im working on a 2001 RCSB f450 framed truck that has 01 f250 v10 wiring in it. looking for some pointers on the engine wiring aspect of the conversion. Going to be using a 6.0 alternator and the dodge a/c pump. Dodge throttle linkage on the pump along with the ford cruise. Truck has a nv4500 with the ford np273 electric shift tcase.

The powertrain was installed before I got to work on it so some stuff isn't very pretty. But no wiring, coolant or CAC pipes are installed yet. I get the fun part of doing the wiring.

So first question, do I need a TPS for the ford cruise to work? or?

Second, Do I need both crank and cam sensors on the engine? or?

Anything else I need or should look for when im doing this? Any help would be great guys! thanks

Seems like telling people what engine you are swapping in would be fairly important.

DCS makes a pigtail adaptor to run dodge alternator, and no u don't need tips for spd control

Wiring- tach, etc, oil pressure, fuel shut-off solenoid, ac compressor. I know I'm forgetting Something......

You forgot the temp sender.

RCSB F-450? never seen a short bed F-450
Are you just doing the wiring and someone else is finishing the conversion, or are you doing the rest of the work.
Do you have any of the old harness's to work with, your going to need the plugs for oil, temp and ac.
There some minor differences in the v10 wiring and my 6.0's but nothing major.I chose not to install in cruise control but there's a good write up on that on the other Cummins Forum.

Can you post any photos of what your working with.

Here's a pic of the 12v in my 04 F-450

Truck really is a f450 cab and frame, with axles and wiring of a v10. Has a OBS STEP side box on it. Don't look to bad, but not my cup of tea. A few others had started in it, but I'm finishing it. I have the whole v10 engine harness and everything. Has new sensors in the engine for it already. Just needs finishing. Got throttle and cruise cables all hooked up the other day. Bought the the power steering hose that was in the other thread and hooked up the 4bt steering pump to the ford hydroboost. Sane pump as the dodges are so that works great. I'll grab some pics next week when I go to work on it. Main thing the guy wants is the gauges all to work. And to have it look half ways decent under the hood.

What are your plans for fuel supply? A sump and fass?

No, just the factory piston pump on the engine with idk in the tank. Haven't got that far yet. It's not going to be a high horsepower engine. Something along the lines of a fun little drive around truck. Nothing special. Has a bus manifold with a he351.

What's i got to work with and work along side. Lol that's a hellcat too!

Looks like the makings of a nice truck but it looks like they may have gotten carried away with triming that wiring harness.
I'm not familiar with a V10 wiring but my 6.0 harness had two shielded pairs of wires. One set for the tach sensor and one set for the cam sensor, I my case it took both to get the tach to work.

Crank is shielded on this one but not sure if the cam is or not. I think i remember reading that i need to take the cam sensor wires by the ecu and splice into the crank ones. Haven't got that far yet though.

Got some wiring done today. Shortened up the cps wires and used the dcs little adapter thinger and shielded the wires with the factory stuff. Got the oil and water temp sensors in and wired. Still wondering about the cam sensor. I've read about it and have conflicting info. Do I need it or not. If so where and how do I wire it? Thanks guys!

Who's tach adapter are you using?
Destroked sends the instructions with their's but are also available to see on their site.
The year model of the cab, dash and wiring harness effects the number of notches the sensor needs to see.
According the Destroked there's three different ways to connect the cam sensor wire depending on the year model but they are used in every app.
DCS doesn't list their instructions but both show the same tune wheels for the appropriate year models as Destroked.
If your using DCS sensor contact them for a copy of the instructions.

Problem is I don't really know what year the harness is. Guy thinks it's a 01 but not sure. Truck is many different years of parts. Any way to tell? Im not a ford man so I don't know. The little bracket is from dcs but didn't have any instructions.

Ok finally got this shut figured out for the tach sensor. You don't even use the factory crank sensor wires for the v10 or 7.3, you use the cam sensor wires and then tie two wires together from the ecu. I forgot which ones now but I'll see tomorrow. Happy I got that out of the way.

Next question, is there a factory dual battery tray for the drivers side? Or? What you guys doing for one? Thanks

Destroked makes a dual battery tray for the drives side out of billet aluminum, it's pretty but a little pricey.
Mine are still on both sides, right side is original, left side is from a 7.3 truck.
