I bought an engine out of a 2007 bus, supposedly. I never saw the bus, I'm trying to get the vin from the bus company. I'm just going on the guys word that its an 07. Can anybody tell some differences in an lly and a lbz. I'm a dmax greenhorn and any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It should be an LBZ.

Externally if the engine has a ficm that's a tell-tale of a true LLY, the intake horn is different as well.

Unless your talking an '06 LLY then the engine itself is the same (externally and internally) the only difference is the stock tune.

The injector harness comes back to a large connector on the top of the engine. I didn't notice a ficm in between there

You have an LBZ.

That bail connector goes to the ecm harness. The LBZ's fire the injectors through the ecm tuning (Bosch electronics) where the true LLY's use a ficm (Delphi electronics), located on the right hand side valve cover towards the front of the engine.
