235 vs 245 pump issue

why would a truck that is supposed to run on an 235 not run on it but will run with a 245 pump in it(about 95% correctly)? It will not even attempt to pump fuel with the 235 in it and gives 1689 no communications code. should I try a new ecm?

That sounds like an ECM issue to me since the pumps are controled by the computer?

I hope it is easy as that. The SO pump came off the stand the day before I got it, and they are typically a good shop.
this has been a problem truck since the guy has had it.
