Well, I had to pull my 241 DHD out of my truck this week because I could not run high range. Low worked fine but as soon as I shifted into high range the case would disengauge and act like it was stuck in netural. Tore into it and found I had bent the input retainer ring and blew the sealing ring appart.
here is what the old ring looked like
So i figured that was my problem. Got two new sealing rings, a new retainer ring, and put the case back together. I was spining it on the shop bench to make sure high and low range worked ok when I noticed that the input shaft still has some in and out play in it. with everything bolted back together I the shaft can move in and out a total of .140". is this normal for it to move that much? 4 high 4 low and 2 high all work fine as it is, I know the input alone in not moving that much I guessing the entire planetairy assembly is moving in and out when I'm pulling on the shaft. I just wanna make sure its right before I reinstall it.
