Well, this being another rainy Christmas season in NEPA, it would figure I'd begin having delay wiper issues. This is my second 3rd gen truck that I'm having this issue with too...

...Ironically it happened to both trucks at about 86K miles.... :nail:

Anyway on with the description... Wipers work normally on high and low, but on delay, (and only sometimes) they will act as if on low speed, and when switched off they won't park.

Again this problem is intermittent, I'd have to say the problem happens about 30% of the time. The rest of the time everything functions normally.

Any help or insight is appreciated,

Thank you and Merry Christmas

Both of mine do it as well, they also sporadically come on when I unlock the doors via key fob. LOL

I haven't seen anyone who knows how to fix it, but would love to know.

Mine did the same thing around the same mileage mark. It just fixed itself so I quit worrying about it. Have 95k on it now.

The wipers would hang, had them wipe a few times when unlocking or locking the truck, damn horn honking and lights flashing when backing up. Truck is a damn circus some times.

Multifunction switch is the problem, swap it out and you are fixed.

The multifunction switch is usually the problem, the grease built up on the contacts can get some copper flakes worn into it, and they'll conduct enough current to make interesting things happen.

Take the switch apart and clean the grease, you'll be a good shape.

I recently replaced a wiper motor for an intermittant issue with the park function and a delay not functioning properly. This was on a '99 3500.

I'll open the door, and they'll come one for one pass.

if that happened to me i dont know if it be pissed, or laugh!

My 07 has done it since it was new. it was never enough to bother me id say 30% of the time is a good guess.

It does strange things like of you go from off to full wipe it goes slow for the first pass than catches up. or it will forget to come on while on the slowest delay setting.

ive never really cared about it too much but if its a simple fix id be down for that!

how much is one of these Multi function switches and are they a PITA to get to?

My truck does the same thing dosent always want to park the wipers or it will be sunny out and doing 60 n the wipers so goin to town. Its odd

My 05 is goofy to, on the delay settings it wil cycle once then the next cycle they will swipe 3 times, next swipe once, next swipe 2 times. Then the next day work fine.

Same here and sometimes cruisin down the road, they will start wiping for two or three indexes....05 as well 94k...hmmm...

same problem here, just crusing down the road they will go off, and cycle once (Especialy when I get on it). I have replaced the switch twice because they did not work at all.

Just came across this info from a CTD mechanic on another forum.
While I knew about the extended warranty and TSB, did NOT know about the alternative, less expensive part #.
Hope it helps some of you guys out...

"Dodge extended the warranty on 2006 1500-2500 trucks with failed multifunction switches. The extension is for 10 years, 150,000 miles. See TSB 08-002-12 for details. I would assume if you paid for one you can call the customer relations line at 1 800-992-1997 for possible refund consideration. If your out of the extension by miles, you might purchase the PN CNH3X200AA as it retails for $34.25 instead of $100+ for the OEM PN."
