so i have narrowed down what turbo i will be going with, 66/74/14. what im wanting to know is should i go with 5x14's or 5x16's. i dont pull a trailer much and ill be pulling sled prob 10 times a year. it is my dd. i need some input on smoke, under WOT do 5x14's clean up with a 66 or do 5x16's black out the road... i just dont want it to smoke and not go anywhere. for fuel i have an airdog 150 and my pump flows 521cc's. also my hp goal is to break in the 600's. thanks alot guys:thankyou2:

I'd go with a 64/71 over that 66. I run a 66/71/13ss with a cam, 24v head, and ported manifold and I wouldn't want to drive this thing with anything less. And my pump outs out 600cc.

x2!

I hated my 66 for any sort of city driving. It was pretty deadly on the highway, but as a DD, I'd stay away. And that was on a setup like Tylers, although mine has dynoed higher than 400.:shake:

I run a 64/71/.80 on my 12v, and its a sweet driver. Be near full boost around 1800 rpm. The bullet on my 24v wouldn't start going until 2k rpm, a bit lower once the cam was installed.

You're not clearing that fuel with a 66 and either injector.

I agree with nick, im not clearing the fuel with a S475 your not going to clear it with a 66 and either injector. You can drive pretty smoke free, but clearing at wot not today.

ok cool, would 5x14's and a 64 break the 600's?? or will a 64 even do that much. ive heard yes and ive heard no.

A 64 is more than enough air to break 600, you'll just have to play with your afc, plate position and timing to get it where you want it. If your worried about wot smoke you could even go with a set of 5x.012" DDP3's.

im not so much worried about wot smoke, i just dont want to black out the highways and have a slow turd. i understand that with more power is more smoke, i wish it wasnt like but oh well. ill prob do a 64 with some 5x14's. i may add a cam and lower the compression on my pistons but only time will tell. thank you very much guys!!

im in the same boat a you but my pump doesnt do over 500. i think it was benched in the low 400's plus whatever the dv's make it flow. Im running a 66/74/14 with 5x0.016 injectors. I think these guys are saying it wont clean up the smoke because ur pump flows alot of fuel, not the injector. a 66 will clean up a 5x14 or 5x16 real nice. hell a 62 will clean up a 5x14 depending on what injector. but then again uve got alot of pump!

I think you will be happy with a 66 tho. If your anything like me you will get the 64, it will work like a charm and you will say hmm wonder if I shoulda just got the 66. Good luck either way keep us posted.

I just pulled tonight with 66/74/16 5x16 and ran 1700egt's on the first run then 1800egt's on the second and third run. All the run's I was in 2nd gear low rang. Not sure what my pumps flow's but not much.

Btp why did u have to say that. lol im only 18 years old and i dont wanna buy a 64 and be like well i shoulda went 66. haha should i just go big and go with the 66 and 5x16's and be done with it?? cuz as soon as i get out of school and have a halfway ok job im buyin a cr. so i can have a dd and use the 12 valve for a puller/ weekend warrior. i can deal with drivin it like a grandpa through town, i do right now anyways cuz i dont like ppl bi*ching about smoke so i dont give them a reason to and i just drive slow. in all reality i really did want to go with the 66 tho. screw it i think i just will. haha ill keep ya posted. thanks guys

If you have to drive like a grandpa now to keep the smoke down, its going to be much worse with the 66. Having run a 62, 64 and a 66, the 64 is hands down the better charger.

Im just being honest with you bud, if your plan is to buy a cr for a daily driver then I wouldnt stop at 66. I had 64,two 66's, 71, and this 475 now. I drive it to work, smoke is controlable even up hills it just hazes around 12lbs of boost. I really liked the silverbullet 66 thats just my experience. Just want to see you make a good decision the first time instead of always wanting to go bigger. Gets expensive.

For what it's worth I plan to run a t4 .91 equipped 64 s300 and will be hitting it with some pretty similar fuel. I'd listen to the rec's on this charger many people have found the 64mm compressor to work better atleast in the s300 chargers.

check with ED on their 66. It's a better 66 if you guys can tell the difference between a 64 and 66 on spool up.

Honestly there's very little if any significant difference between the old school "OEM-ish" 64/71/13ss and my shinny new ED 66/73/13ss.

Yes, it's on a CR, but it's apples to apples the same motor and tuning. the 66 is just a hair slower and my driving style didn't change to keep the smoke under control and over all, it's just a better charger then the 64 IMHO.

ED sets up a charger differently and they do a lot more custom work to these things then you may think. It's not just a re-sell from BW kinda program.

I daily drove my 66/80 without a problem. Towing would get warm but the spool really wasnt bad. Ihave a 76.6 on there now and its tough to drive haha. 1300 degress going up hills 1100 cruising, but i dont have a cam just a ported manifold. I only drive it to the shop and to pulls though. Towing would be impossible unless its a log splitter or something tiny like that.

i run a 64/71 with 5x.014's and 024 delivery valves and for the street i wouldn't want anything bigger except maybe twins, just my opinion..

ya thats what i dont want, for me to be in a situation where i always wanna go bigger. because im not some rich kid. lol and no i dont have to drive like a grandpa to keep smoke down i just do it so i dont spit out a little cloud here and there, and i drive it easy to save on fuel. jason, how do you like that ED 66 with the 13ss housing?? it just scares me to buy a 13 housing but everyone says the ss flows like huge amounts of air and they dont choke and get hot like you would think.

my trucks pretty smokey with my 64 but im using water/meth now and slowly getting the afc tuned right to help clean it up a bit. so far its cleaning up quite well at WOT once of course it lights
