Can the A518 be made to lock up?

IIRC, yes, but you need a lot of parts from a 47rh. You'd need a lock up convertor, front pump, VB. There's a few other things that I'm forgeting. IMO it would be easier at that point to find a 47rh and put it in.

Not only easier but better....
Internally the 47RH has stronger parts than the 518.

But you can get even stronger parts ....

Check PATC 46RE 47RE 48RE Transmissions, Performance Transmission A518, 518

Look for the Viper 3

And check kit # K47
