94 2500 shut off

hey guys, buddy of mine has a 1994 12valve 2500. and has done a few pump mods(not sure what) and he was test driving it and put it in drive and floored it.. and as soon as it hit 2500rpms it shut down. he started it right back up and eased on down the rd to the shop. then he put it into park and revved it to 250 and it stays running.. what do you think could be the cause of the shut down? thanks, ethan

when you free rev it to 2500 does it pop and fart, or it is smooth? i had a similar issue with my truck, it turned out my steel fuel line that run's up along the bell housing rubbed through and was sucking air.

it was strange because it would drive fine until you tromp on it, then it would die, but start right back up, very similar to what your describing.....
