Anything Helps!!!!

a local trans builder for a diesel....... if you are lucky and live near a shop that specializes is one thing. Gasser trans shops have no clue, and no right to build a trans for diesel. think of the torque involved. sure you might arrive at 600 hp one day, but at 1200 ft lbs of torque that will trash any gasser based trans rated for 600 hp. and there goes more money down the drain. It's your money, but think about it, many of us have been in your shoes, and should have followed good advice. If you have to spend it twice, that second pile of money could have meant to the next mod, not fixing a failed one.

^ Good advise, you want get the performance out of a local gasser shop either, it's best to take it to the guys that build em everyday for trucks like yours, for people wanting the same thing your shooting for. Then not only will it last but shifts and lockups will be better. I've had friends take trucks to local trAns builders and get "billet converters and clutch upgrades" only last a couple months and be slipping just like a stocker.

Awesome good to know man...yea I'm just going to start saving up for a tranny and well my parents drag race and my dad was a diesel mechanic in the coast guard so Im pretty sure my parents would know who could build me te best tranny locally....hell I'm sure my dad would actually know more about all the different tranny people out there...? How much of a difference is the 62mm than the stock turbo?

First of all I'll say this, I'm sure your dad is a great mechanic and knows alot about how mechanical things work. If you want a trans that will stay together, please don't leave your dad or anyone but a diesel trans specialist anywhere near that 48re! Don't waste your time with anything smaller than a 63/68/.91 charger or anything but a custom efilive tune.

I see what y'all are saying...I just meant I was going to pick my dads brain a bit....how much does efi live cost?

It will do a lot more than the 2mm sounds cause on the exhaust side it's gonna move a lot more air than stock and be about the same spool up, bottom line u will have a well mannered solid mid 5 to 600 hp street truck with good efi tune. Ex. 62/68/14 vs your stock 60/60/9 or the 63/68/14 is a good idea for u.
