When you drive a Detroit the first rule is slam your hand in the door. They don't need a pedal just an on and off button. We actually have a quarry here that the guy really loves detroits. Just saw a old tandem they are working on with a 8v71 in it. They have several dump trucks with detroits and some with Detroit automatics pulling a pup. They aren't very fast.

We had a bit of detroit equiptment where i used to work. Had a retrofitted 60k LB cat towmotor with a 8v71t. Thing had so many sticks, F-N-R, 1,2,3, trans high and low, and a 2 speed diff. You got all the sticks in the right place and that thing would flat out haul with 25 ton on the forks.

Also had some terex pans with the 6-71 up front and the 12v-71 out back. The sound those things made!

We scrapped a drag line with 2 275 cummins in it. I wanted to buy one so bad haha. Cool old engine, then again i think 3208s are cool

Man those 12 cylinder jimmies remind me of my youth. The local egg farm had a pair of gmc's with 6v71's running straight pipes could hear those things for miles. :rockwoot:
