Boost and Back pressure question.

How much does back pressure effect the boost you make. I have a 4 inch down pipe, straight to a 8 inch stack. As long as i can remember. I have only made about 32 lbs of boost. I was messing around and stuck a muffler in the stack. Kinda tired of hearing the thing, so i grabbed one of the extra MBRPs we have laying around and it fit into the stack. Well i was driving around today and put it to the floor on my number 2 setting, which is 80 tow, and my boost went up and pegged my 35lbs gauge. I didnt get a chance to try it in my highest setting cause it started raining. But was i loosing all this extra oomph because i had no back pressure?

Hard to say if you even got any "extra boost". Is it actually more power, or does the boost gauge just read higher?

You would need to know what your pre-turbo exhaust pressure was before and after you added the muffler. If your muffler added 3psi, you didnt necessarily gain anything.
