I have had several folks ask me about the Hydroboost brake system I have in the Ranger. Its pretty simple, it works like a vacuum booster as far as providing brake power, only it uses hydraulic fluid from your power steering pump to do it.
I used one from an 03-F-250 since the truck is a ford, motor and PS pump is all ford. The fittings are much easier to get to work together.
Basically, run a line from the PS pump, to the Hydroboost, then from the hydroboost to the PS rack, (or gear), and there is a single line also that runs low pressure return into the PS resevoir. I just put a t fitting into the PS low pressure return line to the resevoir.
