Button under drivers side battery?

Replacing the OEM batteries finally.

Never had them out ever.

What is this button for?

Ended up with o'reilly "super starts" 880 cca $104/each 8 year warranty
 
2nd gens had them too. I believe it is actually a temp sensor to sense if the battery gets too hot. I dont know if they work or not.LOL If i had to guess it would shut the altenator down for safety to prevent explosion.
 
Battery temp sensor. Referenced by the ecm for fueling parameters on startup especially in cold start situations.
 
Yeah the common rail ECM calculates the temp variations of all the temp sensors to decide how to fuel on startup.
 
Got it on mine to. Had a code for a while and never figured out wtf the computer was talking about till I found a loose plug.
