I just bought my first duramax. Its an 04 with the LB7. It has california emissions. The cat converter is about to go. Will it hurt to turn off the egr using EFI Live? The only mods will be exhaust and a few tunes from A friend.

nope, shut off the egr with efilive and you're good to go. Might want to make a blocker plate though.

Thanks guys where is a good source for the plates. I would make them but i don't want to keep the truck down long. I'm enjoying the truck too much.

PPE makes them, pretty cheap IIRC.

Feel free to explain how after i blocked off the egr turned it off with efi live and removed the cat converter my truck lost 2 mpg on the highway.

I am attempting to converting to Fed. Is it alright to take out the vaccum lines/related sensors and reprogram with EFI live? I also switched to a Fed. inlet manifold, removed EGR, cooler, Fed. exhaust pipe. cat replaced with 5" exhaust after BD brake. Anything else do I need to do?

Did you change anything else??? Just those two changes shouldn't hurt your mileage.
