I'm considering replacing my laggy stock turbo on the 1st gen with an HE351VE. They seem readily available and relatively inexpensive. Plus I like the idea of having an exhaust brake.

I’ve got some questions for those of you who have done this already. I’ve attached a rough drawing of how I plan to control it with a small double acting air cylinder, and springs to return to a home position. I’m hoping this setup will work, but I’m open to any suggestions or improvements. Also...

What size air tank do you guys think would be appropriate to store pressure for engaging the exhaust brake?
What are your thoughts on boost vs. drive pressure? I think boost would be quite a bit easier to use because there would be no need to cool / filter it, but I’m thinking it might not be as responsive as drive pressure.
How much spring tension would be appropriate?
What kinda bore/stroke would I be looking for on the cylinder?
Simplest way to adapt to my manifold? Get a different manifold?

Still in the planning stages here obviously with lots of questions, any thoughts and opinions appreciated!
