Just picked up an 05 lly ccsb auto with 90k now and im looking to beef it up. i plan on competitive pulling in the hot street class in my area and also take it down the 1/4. I'd like to hit the 11 to 12s area on the strip and be competitive in the hot street pulling class. Truck is an 05 So far i have an edge juice with attitude tuner which i plan on junking for EFI live w/DSP5, afe turbo mouthpiece, afe stage 2 intake, and 4inch straight pipe to a tip. i plan on running a billet wheel s366, intercooler, trans build, injectors, arp studs, lift pump and the egr delete n pcv reroute. I'd like your guys input on what else i should do or change as im looking to basically push my motor to its limits with wanting to be in the 700hp range. Any input and help would be greatly appreciated.

Built motor for 700hp, otherwise stay under 600. 700hp has been done plenty on stock internals, but whether its worth the risk is up to you. An s366 on a stock motor should get you mid 12s.

... I run low 11s and dynoed 869hp with my 07 and my head has never even been off my truck

Want a cookie?

Mark Broviak made 800+ on a stock bottom end LBZ, but that was on a dyno. I doubt he drove/raced it with that much power.

FWIW, stock bottom ends seem to be able to cheat death more so on the pulling track than at the strip.

An LLY is going to need headgaskets and studs. Its not an if but a when.

I have no problem doing rods n all that if there gonna be an issue. I'd rather spend the coin n do it right then half ass it. I'm even considering jumping up on the turbo size and just clipping it to run 2.6. The truck will probably be seeing pulls more then it will the strip. My main thing is I don't really have a base for what I need to acquire being duramax's aren't the cheapest to build so it seems people tend to steer towards other motors to do

I just read it off the new posts didnt pay attention to the section. My bad its all yours. Didnt mean to cause any trouble.

Well then just start small, build the trans, get a lift pump, egr delete, lbz mouthpiece, and some good EFI tunes and run in the work stock class for a while. A "max effort" stock turbo tune with a built trans is more fun than one would think. That's basically how mine is set up, and even at that its too much for a couple 285s out back to hold traction on the street.

If you want gobs of info on pulling/racing/building a dmax, search over on duramax diesels .com

OP, how many 550rwhp 12 second diesel trucks have you ridden in/driven?

Ass loads of guys come on these forums wanting 800+hp on their daily driver when they have never felt a true 500+rwhp...

You know what you should do...what I wish I would have done...
Keep your nice duramax stock and quite and reliable. Use the money you would put into your truck on an old 12v. You will have a much stronger truck for the money.

This.
And welcome to CompD.

I agree with DirtyMaxx03. I got the pulling bug and turned my 05 dodge into a almost dedicated puller that had prolly 200 miles out on it this year and daily drive a rotted out regular cab 12v. These newer trucks are fun to play with but man did I do that bass ackwards:bang

im gonna be going with a s467 n clipping it to run 2.6 class. will i be alright with 40% over injectors or should i go with 65%?
