Cr cylinder head freeze plugs

What's everyone's views on the freeze plug situation for the cylinder head in a cr just did the head on my puller and was wondering if it's a good idea since it's off and a safe assurance thanks

24mm tap then stick in the tapered 24mm plugs.

THIS! Just get it done cause it sucks ass when you blow all your coolant into the crankcase.

Don't try to use NPT, the 24mm plugs are a fine thread, the NPT will give you very few threads of engagement/sealing surface.

The 24mm tap is straight tap, the plug is tapered so you can't mess it up by tapping too deep.

Tap and plug...I had to rebuild mine due to one of these bastards blowing and killing the lower end at 5000rpm in a pull...

Does the head need to be removed to do this or is it a lot easier to do with head off
