Do you use 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear?

I will be towing a boat and hauling a truck camper by summer. New to the Tow/Haul mode of these diesels. Past experience with Chevy K1500 Suburban required 3rd gear when towing, otherwise use D. Just out and about with new truck so far (700 miles, no hauling yet), it seems that the only gears needed will be Drive, and Drive with tow/haul mode. Anyone useing 1st, 2nd or 3rd, and what for, what situations?

leave it in drive with tow/haul no need for selecting gears. but it might scare the shiot out of you when it down shifts slowin dowin if yur slowin down quick
