Has anyone found anything worth telling as a tip towards it? Are second gear starts better than 1st gear? (Built 5R in my 6blow). Lower the front tire air pressure like when pulling a sled or leave it be? Lookin for tips here. :Cheer:

I take it you're going to the race in Berville?

I would lower the pressure of all four tires, and then lower the fronts as necessary. Dirt drag racing is only 300 feet, so I would start in second.

If you know ahead of time the type of track you will be running on, it is a big help. Huge difference between garden and sled pull.

IMO

Sled Pull (Hard Pack) - Pretty much what works well as a street tire on the drag strip.

Garden (loose heavy soil/ mud) - Full on Scoops

Ive never understood the appeal of this type of racing in Michigan.

I live about 10min from the west Michigan sand dragway where merchant puts on battle of the diesels. They have run what ya brung dot ET racing on fridays so hopefully once my trucks done I can figure it out lol.

Agreed. DNR cheapened out and is sponsoring an already existing event instead of their typical annual drag race event.
