DT466 vs DT530 External Size

Do the DT466 and the DT530 share a comon block ? Does the 530 have a externally larger engine block ?

They have the same blocks, just the DT530 has a longer stroke.

Why don't I read about more DT530's used for pulling rather than 466's ? Do they prefer the shorter stroke for more rpms ? I thought bigger was usually better where possible .

Not a clue. Higher compression makes for less boost.
