My buddy is thinking about EGR deleting his 2008 6.4, however someone local to him told him that if he deletes the EGR then he will have to put an external wastegate in otherwise he will run into drive pressure issues and pop headgaskets.

I personally know nothing about the 6.4 except that they run damn good with deletes and tuning. Does anyone know what this guy is talking about?

Thanks alot guys!

The egr system does work to relieve back pressure. However you can block it off. I have had the wastegated egr delete as well as block off plates.

Unless he is planning on nitrous use he doesn't need to do an egr delete w/ wastegate.

If funds are availble I say go for it. But in my opinion a better flowing set up turbos and and blockoffs would be a better option than simply a wastegate
