engine turning tool with SB DD clutch

I tried using the turning tool after installing my Southbend double disk clutch. I could not get it to work. I am guessing I am installing the tool too far, since my starter has a spacer ring. Am I thinking correctly? Thanks.
 
Yeah, you must be pushing it to far into the flywheel housing. I used the barring tool on mine with the 3250dd and it worked fine.
 
Mine always worked, but like was said, it can't go too far. This is where a 1/2" spacer for it would be handy.
 
I don't have mine in my hand at the moment but I thought the Snap-on tool had a band you could use to adjust the depth a little?

I think you take off the snap-ring and the band and collar will slide off. Just switch the order of the two to change the depth the tool installs.
 
I will take a look at mine. I think it is a Snap-On tool and does have a snap ring. Thanks guys.
