Found this F800 4x4 on Craigslist in Minn. a few years ago(pic 1). Hauled ass north and loaded on trailer(pic2). Threw on some 48" Michs, pulled 429, and dropped in a 500, or so, hp, p pumped, twinned Cummins(pic 3). Now she's in my new to me shop for paint, interior, and a few mods to engine. Maybe a lift? LOL

Motor and tranny out. Lower turbo and a few other things were already removed. Plan to move engine forward and down a little. Forward for sure. Add intercooler. Do some of the things I wanted to do originally, but couldn't wait to drive it!!

Nice rig! I've been checking out a F700 4x4 locally and trying to justify owning it. I keep thinking Cummins conversion....

Front axle is a Marmon Herrington Mt 14, 14,000 lb, 6.71 ratio. Transfer is Marmon Herrington 226
Tranny is Eaton 5 speed, non od. Something overdrive would be nice, but it hasn't come along yet, other than an Allison auto. Plus I have another backup Eaton 5 spd and PTO. Right now it's a toy and will do 65 at around 3000 rpm, but that really is pushing those tires IMO.

I say go for it!! Here's a f700 Marmon Herrington 4x4 with 4.11 gears for another project later. Something more roadable.

I was kind of hoping for something with air-brakes. The one I'm checking out isn't. But I might just grab it. 13,000 miles, 429/ 5 speed. $5,000

Yea, I really like the air brakes until something goes wrong and she loks down. Of coarse that's better than blowing a hyd line and no brakes. FWIW I have a C 70, 427, 2wd hyd front discs that is really nice to drive.
I moved tranny mounts forward and down a few inches and reinstalled engine for test fit. Looks good. Now I can get rear valve cover off. Motor and tranny coming back out today to drill a few frame holes and ready engine.

That thing is sweet! I'm thinking I need one of these instead of one of the 6x6's we've got. I bet that rig is going to be a blast to drive around.

Thanks for the likes and I can see where some might think toys like this could be fun. Simple tasks like checking the oil, are a challenge. Getting in and out are a workout! Changing a tire!!!! So is it fun?? Hell yes!! Cars and trucks that usually fight for their half of a narrow road, give way! Mudd, rocks, small trees-- no prob!!
