g56 trans fluid question

i just serviced a g56 this past weekend, the atf looked good even after 98k. owner couldnt find the above recommended fluid with the GL rating suggested. so we put in 7qts royal purple 80w-90 through the shifter tower, owner is very happy with the change.

Yep been there way too thick when it's cold u can't shift for the first 15 min gorrilla juice is the only way too go

Yup. GJ does not like shifting when cold. Other than that I like it. Just out of curiosity I'm going to switch to some sort of 50wt next time.

Agreed, I don't mind the GJ but I'm gonna try something different when the time comes

Yes...the 1 qt overfill os still a good idea for the G56 no matter what fluid you are running.

Clearly the gj is not "the only way to go" if you cannot shift right for the first 15 mins lol. Switch to the mobil 50 wt. Oil analysis showed that it had better wear protection than the gj, and i have zero issues shifting my g56 with it. Even in the cold wi winters.
