I need to decide whether to build my toy truck project and sell my ‘98 or sell my project trucks.
My ‘98.5 is a RWD QCSB auto that I put a ‘95 12V in. The tranny has a Goerend TC, Constant Pressure VB, billet input, and billet band anchor. The engine has @ 550K on it. I have a set of DDIII injectors (Smokem said they’re basically 370’s) I just got back from him. They were cleaned, modded, and tested. I have a virgin 175hp pump that has @ 150K on it ready to go on. I’ll swap in my 181’s, GSK, and plate. It needs a front crank seal. The truck also has a modded HE351CW.
It has leather interior that’s in great shape. It needs a bit of minor body work and a paint job.
One part of my project is a ‘92 D250 RWD extended cab long bed with @ 300K on it. The truck was built to pull a 5th wheel travel trailer and has been in almost every state in the US with several trips to Alaska. It has a built A518 with two outboard fan driven coolers. It shifts and pulls great. The VE was built and installed by Piers along with a set of POD injectors, ATS manifold, and stock turbo with a 16cm2 housing. It denied 308/668.
The 2nd part is a ‘93 D150 STD cab SB. It has @ 180K on it. My plan is/was to put the drivetrain from the D250 in the D150 including the LSD rear axle with EGR Disc Brake conversion. I was also going to rebuild the D250 front suspension and put it in the D150 for the upgraded strength and to keep the 8-lugs in the front, too.
From what I understand it’s a pretty simple and straightforward swap, just haven’t had time for it.
I like my ‘98 and it’s been dead nuts dependable and gets 20mpg every tank, but I’ve always wanted a sweet SCSB for DD and weekend fun.
What would y’all do?
