Drove my truck with no issues, parked it sat over night fired up next morning with white smoke... thought it was cold.. by the time i hooked the trailer and a mile down the road couldn't even see the trailer, THAT much white smoke...

parked truck checked balance rates (cornwell scan tool), 6 hole was reading 112 & 5 hole 97 all others were within 98 to 100...

called DDP as i just got these injectors back a month ago fully cleaned and balanced, he suggested moving hole 6 to hole one, to make sure its an injector...

So i moved the injectors, and checked balance rates again with EFI live... hole 6 is showing -4.0 and hole 5 showing 1.5

So the problem stayed in hole 6... SO it doesn't SEEM to be an injector issue now?

soo i removed the injector harness and ohm every connection they all check out fine...

Turning the motor over it doesn't sound like its down on compression at all, but i have not checked & Valve lash is good

I disconnected the solenoids on hole one and six separately and the smoke never goes away nor appear to get much better either?

I'm at my witts end... any other ideas?

You don't hear a miss? What kind of shape is your air induction in?

You can pull the exhaust manifold off and watch to see which port is producing the smoke.

Compression test, more than likely the heads gotta come off.

My 04.5 did something similar, 3k old injectors, drove home from work fine, fired it up next morn, drive to work and when I parked it I noticed it had a slight lope at idle.

Later on noticed the smoke also. Hardly could tell driving except for idle and grey white smoke.

6 hole read high contribution, was a broken ring.

Have you pulled fill cap to check blow by?

White smoke is unburned fuel, which is usually connected to low compression, timing issues, or air (aeration) in the fuel.

Keep in mind, if one cylinder is not burning the fuel, it's loading the exhaust with it, so the symptom of white smoke won't just go away instantly, even if the cause is fixed.

As mentioned, compression and leak down tests would be the next step(s).

That's why I like to pull the manifold to identify which cylinder is producing the symptom.

It is very likely 6 has a broken ring.

If it has a broken ring, it has blowby.
Pull the oil cap with it running and any puffing means it's leaking by.

Interesting to note, I've had many engines in here that had dead holes and ZERO white smoke out of the exhaust.

Makes me think this is fuel related.

When my 03 was bellowing out white smoke it was a valve seat failure.

Im away at work... won't be home for another week, but ill check for blow by and compression test

A good friend of mine says the same thing... he still thinks it's an injector... idk...

Do you just pull top studs and loosen bottoms to observe? Or remove turbo & complete remove exhaust manifold

Im fixing to start trouble shooting this POS... ill probably have more questions/ comments

Ok so!!!

Zero dance in oil cap and next to nothing from blow by tube either...

Miraculously, two weeks later... it still has the crazy amount of white smoke and smells like raw unburnt fuel...

I pull all and try to pull it out to get the best view possible.

If you completely remove it all, you will need a way to cap the oil supply to the turbo.

So you leave turbo connected? Just pull the exhaust manifold itself far enough away to see the holes?

If you have room for the turbo connections and the downpipe will allow it.

Realistically you haven't lost anything by completely removing the manifold and turbo because there's a high probability that you will be pulling the head after you find what hole it is.

Ok... so strange turn to the saga

Checked balance rates again, still showing hole 6 high contribution...

Killed all six in succession, hole one (originally hole six) has the most difference, and pretty obvious... yet balance rates show it's fine?

Also, if you pull the plug off the firewall and jump it to the battery to just roll the motor, no ecm power, it is trying to start?
I was going to listen for any changes in compression but it is trying to start? Multiple times... not just once, everytime i tried... it's not speeding up / slowing down - like a dead hole.... it's speeding up coughing & trying to fire?? It shouldn't do that without ECM power??

Cylinder #1 is the companion to #6. Any change to #6 will change the degrees of rotation for #1 power stroke.

A hung open injector might be able to fire without command. I'm not sure what the fuel system is capable of when cranking without key-on.
