Has anyone seen any problems with block head etc castings and building high output mills regardless of make?

I take it nobody looks for casting flaws before the build? It may not happen too often, but those dud blocks, heads etc are out there I am sure and finding out the hard way can be avoided by having things sonically checked and visually checked as well.

I wonder if there are any CNC'd blocks being offered?

They are called 53 blocks, and there are billet CNC blocks availible.

Is it something like a single company makes most of them, or have you seen a pretty even playing field out there for competitive prices?

There are a couple companies that make them, and they are 10-$15k depending on what you want.
