Well like the title says...dld in my 97 project truck and was wondering how much abuse it will take. DD that is going to be pulled 2-3 times a year at most. ~650-750 horse when done. Is it worth it to swap to the dhd?

I ran a dld in my 95 drag truck and never had a issue. Launched hard and ran 10s.

I run one with 500+ hp with no problems and I do sled pull. I blew the pinion gear in the Dana 70 before hurting the transfer case. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1347950534.832237.jpg

That is all very interesting. It will take a little bit of beating before she gives I see. And when it does I'll just swap in a dhd. Those are some impressive numbers for it all things considered.

I still have a DLD in my truck. Calculates to high 600s based on times and weight(6700lbs). Havent had a problem so far.

Mine has seen a few dozen 15-?? psi boosted lauches @ just over 700hp.

Now it has a one piece driveshaft with 1480's and a DHD

My old man broke his ath first time he hooked it to the sled. It was at a brush pull. The truck is bone stock, no intake, no box, nothing. It never even took a hop. I broke mine my 3rd hook at 500 hp. I would say just change it now. At least that way you will have a spare or something to sel for a couple hundred bucks. Otherwise you will eventually scrap metal sometime down the road.

I pull mine every weekend at 550+ and its been just fine now for over two years. In the off season I abuse it pulling wagons and plowing snow. It has just over 340,000 and is still factory fresh!
