A friend of mine just bought a 2004 Ford Excursion with the 6.0L. It's probly a normal sound but, it makes a pumping sound for a few seconds when he shuts it down. What is it, and is it normal? thanks for any help.

william_04_x I'm not sure where it is coming from, I was walking by it when he parked and shut it down. didn't have time to find it. He thought it was coming from the somewhere around the turbo, I'm guessing the back of the motor. I will try to find the location of the sound.

Blue2Fifty, heinzboy what is the injector flash? I know nothing about the Powerstrokes.
thanks Smkblwr

The injectors buzz for a few seconds after shutdown, it was one of Ford's older cold start flashes, if the truck still runs good with it and has no cold start issues, I wouldn't bother getting a newer reflash.

Do yourself a favor and don't get any new flashes on that thing. They do nothing but ruin performance and mpg.
