IAT sensor question

I bought a pretty modified 06' and being it has a S400 turbo with a filter mounted directly on it, there is no spot for the IAT sensor, and it is just resting on the inner fender. Is that an issue? If so what should I do with it, all it senses is air temp and not volume, so I don't see a problem correct?
