Anyone have a writeup or picture of the resistor that needs to be changed?
Also what size of resistor needs to go back in.

Thanks

I know that there was an article in Diesel Power Mag. Not sure which issue it was bt its in one of them. I believe that it has all of the specs and the location to put the resistor in.

The mod is easy, about 30 minutes including removing the IDM
You only need the 75k resistor BUT it has to be a HIGH quality resistor.
NO RatShak stuff here.

I did see a bit of improvement but my truck has almost 400k miles.

I next went with a TS chip (I got it CHEAP) MAN what a difference on the 50
hp mode. My truck was a Super Dog before the chip.

I'm a cummins guy and I know this sounds ignorant but it is because I am so please explain to me why a 309k resistor is on the switch if 75k gives the desired performance. :what:

That 309k is for the ICP oil pressure feedback to the PCM , the IDM mod jacks up the driver voltage from 100vdc to 140 vdc and thus giving a faster injector opening ( a couple of degreese and a slightly longer pulsewidth duration)

You only run that chip on 50 HP?

I cant drive mine unless its on Fuel 7.

so? It does need wired like the picture shows but it does not need a switch. Am i correct?

Thanks alot for posting this info!:thankyou2: And for answering my questions!

No problem man. I had a hell of a time finding it. So I figured I would just throw it on out there. I hope it can help alot of people out.

I have seen a few with an external switch where you can turn it on and off but there is lethal voltage in the switch so watch out..

First, you do not need to do the 309 resistor, I didn't and worked fine.

Second, YEP I just run the 50hp setting on the TS chip. After the IDM mod
it was like adding 100hp.

I'm one of those "old guys" who doesn't have a mommy to pay for my screw-ups
I have to pay myself.

BTW I have been running a Cummins in my Ford SuperDuty for about 5 years now.

So what the hell is all that supposed to mean. You think mommy paid for my rig? Thats what I got out of that post.

You got what YOU got. The remark wasn't pointed, shall we say, at anyone over 25.
If that's you, ooops, life goes on.

Anyway. Back on topic from being called a spoiled brat.

I got both resistors from Digikey for 34 cents.

The part numbers are as follows.

75.0 K Ohm CMF75.0KHFCT-ND
73.2 K Ohm CMF73.2KHFCT-ND

About 17 cents per resistor without tax. and about 7 bucks shipping to me. So its a good 10 dollar mod.

Hope this helps all you children who drive trucks bought by your parents.

Already have 20 of each for the 100/110 and the 120, all you had to do was ask and I think there are enough people with 'em.?

Damn. I didnt think anyone would have them. I went to the avionics shop across the street from my hanger and they didnt have any. So I thought they were so uncommon I would just have to order them.

Appreciate the offer.
