Keying or Pinning Durama oil pump

Ive searched and cant find any info on doing this. Does any one have pics or can tell me what the best way is. 2001 lb7 duramax

I just finished assembling one and just loctited the gear and the nut and then staked the nut to the shaft and to the gear with a centre punch. Not sure if that's the best way or not but I couldn't really see a good way to key the gear on. There is very little shoulder on the shaft where it goes on.
