leaking up-pipe?

today i started hearing a sound like an loud fan when ever the boost goes up. not any of the intercooler pipes for sure. seems to be the up pipes. i assume its not uncommon for the flex joints to fail?

The flex pipes do fail...I've lost the passenger side one 3 times...but the sound you hear I'll bet is coming from the boot that connects the turbo to the hot side tube.
Feel all the way around it....I bet there's a hole in there somewhere.

cool i will check it next. i have a friend coming over to get the boost up a little while i listen. boost at the intake seems normal on the gauge. i hope its not the passenger side cause then i gotta get out the welder to close off the egr again. ever heard of eliminating the flex joint completely. afraid it will expand too much

you hit the nail on the head! bottom of the turbo side of the boot. could not even feel or see it until it hit about 13-15lbs of boost, split right under the clamp. Much thanks
