I'm interested in locking the 4wd in my front end in my 98 24valve cummins 3500 (dually) with the nv4500(5spd with 4.10s)...I have friends that welded theirs but I don't really want to weld due to the fact that I do run my truck on the road very rarely...I have heard of a way to do this with a system of cables where you can lock it in or have it unlocked...is this even a good idea at all?...suggestions or ideas would be appreciated thanks guys

You have to put a locker in the front like a Detroit or right lock locker and they make an aftermarket cable system to lock in the passenger side axle. Look up posi-lok 4x4. No welding needed.

Yukon Grizzley locker. 4 or 5 hundo from Haisleys. Its awesome.

If the passenger side has the disconnect then you can make your own with a bike brake cable and trip to lowes. I have a write up for a Jeep if you want to see the basics.
