Looking For Imput

Has it only been happening since it got colder?

It’s been a struggle since I’ve got the truck together. And the incident is so fast it’s like you blip the key off then on. I watched it on solus didn’t see any voltage drop on ECM. I was thinking possible intermittent short to ground or something internally with it not tripping any cel stuff.

All the lights on dash come on and dash kinda cycles like key was just turned on. What’s leading me away from being fuel related

Yea, its not gonna be fuel if it shuts off like you hit the key, and if ur not graphing voltages with a god sample rate scanner, it will miss the voltage drop. Have seen some of this body style pickups with connection issues in junction box. ECM replacement rarely fixes a concern.

How about hooking up a light bulb to different power cts, feeding ECM, or junction box and attach bulb to cowl and monitor the bulb while driving.

Driving to get it now with trailer so it’s near home and can mess with it. I’ll try that and post back thanks!

I didn’t have much time to mess with it last night. But did notice that if I kept it around 12-15% throttle it wouldn’t do it. If I went to accelerate hard it would cut out then back on. Idk if the tps could be doing it?

yea that's main input to the ECM for load calculations and driver demand.

Is there a good way to test it besides throwing a new one on there since there’s no codes for it. Buddy brought his motus over and was graphing it while I drove around and seemed like that was are most consistent way to make it do it was throttle %.

Shouldnt it have an associated Idle Validation Code of some sort?

What exactly does it do when you hold it at that TPS %?

It shuts of like you blip the key off then on. Going to see if I can watch key counter on scanner. See if it logs keyed on off when it does it. Maybe s part of ignition switch is bad idk. Grabing for ideas ?. I’d does not lose radio power or any lights on dash. Just flashes all warnings lights like I just turned key on. But absolutely no codes in any modules besides stuff I have deleted and are not on truck. Like wastegate, heater grid.

I had the exact same thing happen to a 05 250 that I had at one point.

$hit my pants a time or 2 especially when I was in the middle of a turn on an overpass and I lost all power which included steering.

Didn't try to chase the issue, and made a profit off of it during that whole cash for clunkers deal that Barack Hussein Obama Did.

Ya my transmission is worth more then most used same year trucks I could buy. Don’t think I’d turn a profit on that deal.

I’m only running one battery. And I swapped it out even though it test good to be sure.

Why not throw the second battery back on it....

Possibly a dead cell in that single battery that's sparking a sudden voltage drop.

Doesn't hurt to try!

Put a brand new one in to make sure it wasn’t that. I’m running the biggest d series battery North Star makes.

I believe your tps sensor has a vref supply like we were talking earlier if vref is shorted the ecm wil go down also, even for a split second, but typically if an ecm goes down not all of your IC lights will flash off then back on. What about your courtesy lights in the truck? Do they flash also, or just indicators in IC?

When you say courtesy lights you’re meaning overhead lights?

Did you notice any spikes or fluctuations with tp signal? and can your buddy run a live network test with his modus? if he can I would monitor that also.

I’ll see when I get back over there after work. I know I can rev it up in Park with no issues. Only seems to do it under a load.
