Losing the bed floor?

So I was thinking about buying box sides and then just putting a gutted tail gate and a roll pan on with a tunnel cover. Here is my question will it be to much wind getting in and causing drag because of the box being closed in the back? This is going to be a street truck 8 months out of the year and a weekend drag truck. That's why I need the roll pan and tailgate. What's everyone's thoughts on this?

Would losing the tunnel cover fix this problem?
 
We are running a bottomless bed with bed cover and tailgate on my drag truck.
